There likely won’t be allot of action on the waivers week 9, but here are a few guys to check out if you are suffering with the BYE week.
Bye Week Teams: Detroit, Minnesota, Carolina, Jacksonville
Quarterbacks:
Christian Ponder, MIN (Owned 19%) – Ponder isn’t the greatest QB to start, but if you need some depth, add him. He is on the BYE week 9.
Wide Receivers:
Mario Manningham, NYG (Owned 77%) – With Hakeem Nicks hurting, Manningham has comeback big. He had six catches for 63 yards and a TD. He is likely not available, but if he is, grab him.
Titus Young, DET (Owned 3%) – He is on the BYE this week, but Detroit’s 2nd round rookie caught his first touchdown of the season week 8. As teams start to glue to Megatron, Young’s catches should go up.
Arrelious Benn, TB (Owned 5%) – Benn has a great match up this week @NO. This will be a divisional slugfest and I expect him to see plenty of targets from QB Josh Freeman.
Tight Ends:
Brent Celek, PHI(Owned 13%) - Michael Vick and Celek are hooking up much more often as the Eagles are getting back to what made them so good last year, using the TE. Celek has 20 catches and two TDs on the season. In the past two games he has 11 receptions and both those TDs.
Mercedes Lewis, JAX(Owned 22%) – If the Jaguars want to win, Lewis has to catch the ball. Gabbert is working on that and week 8 Lewis caught four passes for 45 yards. That was a 36% increase on receptions for the season.
Scott Chandler, BUF (Owned 27%) – Chandler has six TDs on the season. He doesn’t get a lot of targets, but he is the red zone target for Fitzpatrick. Pick him up.
Jeremy Shockey, CAR (Owned 10%) – Shockey’s targets have been on the rise and he finally got a TD week 8. Cam Newton loves to hit his TEs, so Shockey has value, especially in the Red Zone.
Runningbacks:
Javon Ringer, TEN (Owned 11%) – Ringer has been stealing carries from Chris Johnson and he also catches allot of passes. He had five catches week 8 and over 100 total yards.
Lance Ball, DEN (Owned 1%) – Ball had 67 yards on seven touches week 8. He is sharing duties with Knowshon Moreno. As long as McGehee is out, Ball could help you if you are desperate for a runningback.
